 Both Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu did great penance to please Brahma Ji. Brahma ji was pleased with his tenacity, Hiranyaksha became boisterous and arbitrary after receiving the boon of invincibility and immortality from Brahma. He started considering himself as the best in all the three worlds.

 Hiranyaksha was proud and thought of winning all the three worlds. He went to Indralok with a mace in his hand. When the gods received the news of his arrival, they fled from India in fear. Soon, Hiranyaksha's authority was established over all of India.

When no one was found to fight in Indralok, Hiranyaksha reached Varbari, the capital of Varuna. Varun said very calmly - You are a great warrior and a knight. Where do I have the courage to fight with you? There is no one in the three worlds who can fight with you except Lord Vishnu. So go to them only. They will pacify your war.

Hearing Varun's statement, Hiranyaksha reached the abyss under the sea in search of Lord Vishnu. Arriving at the abyss he saw an astonishing scene. He saw a Varaha going over his teeth, lifting the earth.

Hiranyaksha aimed at Varaha and said, you are Lord Vishnu. Where are you taking the earth from the abyss? This earth is the object of consumption of demons. Keep it You have tricked the demons many times for the welfare of the gods. Today you will not be able to trick me.

Even then Lord Vishnu remained calm. There was not even a little anger in his mind. He continued as Varaha with earth on his teeth. Hiranyaksha followed Lord Vishnu in the form of Varaha. He got out of the abyss and set the earth on top of the sea. Hiranyaksha was following him.

Lord Vishnu called upon Sudarshan shortly after, the chakra came into his hands. He cut Hiranyaksha to pieces with his cycle. Being killed at the hands of Lord Vishnu, Hiranyaksha went to Baikuntha Loka.
